On the first morning of September, with the excitement of a new beginning, the first bell rang at the new elementary school “Isidora Sekulić” in Belgrade Waterfront. At the same time, the new kindergarten “Car Dušan” welcomed its first children, giving this part of the city a modern educational campus designed to provide children with a safe, stimulating and inspiring environment for learning, playing and growing up.
Classrooms for modern and interactive learning
In the new school building at the back of Sava Square, students and teachers were welcomed by modern, functional and bright classrooms, with smartboards and computers that enable more dynamic teaching and easier connection of traditional methods with digital content. The space is designed to support individual work, group collaboration, presentations and research assignments, creating conditions where curiosity grows into knowledge.
The specialised classrooms for natural sciences, engineering and technology, as well as informatics and computer science, are of special value. The library with a multimedia room opens up additional space for reading, research, workshops and school programmes, while the music room with a white piano reminds us that art and creativity have an equally important place in a modern school.
Sports, greenery and open-air classes
A spacious gymnasium with modern sports equipment is available to students for physical education and the development of healthy habits.
The green space in front of the school is intended for classes under the open sky, socialising and school performances. The amphitheatre-shaped entrance provides a place for gatherings and joint activities, while the mini botanical garden with carefully selected plants from different continents becomes an outdoor nature classroom.
For students who come to school by bicycle, a space is provided to leave bikes, which further encourages an active lifestyle and sustainable habits.
“Car Dušan” kindergarten – space for playing, socializing and taking the first steps in learning
The new kindergarten “Car Dušan” welcomed the youngest on the same day in a warm and carefully designed environment adapted to their developmental needs. Specially designed rooms, connected in a circular fashion, allow natural movement between spaces for play, rest, study and creative activities.
The multifunctional room is intended for gatherings, workshops, events and performances, while the abundance of daylight and the view of the green courtyard contribute to a pleasant and encouraging atmosphere.
The kindergarten’s spacious courtyard is designed as a safe playground for play and exploration. Swings, slides, climbing towers, hopscotch and tartan surfaces stimulate the development of motor skills, balance and dexterity, while the greenery surrounding the area creates a natural protection from the city bustle.
The layout of the amenities allows educators to organize a variety of outdoor activities, from free play to joint workshops and getting to know nature.
With the opening of the school “Isidora Sekulić” and kindergarten “Car Dušan”, Belgrade Waterfront got a place where education, sport, culture and being in nature mix into the daily experience of children. The first school day thus, in addition to new notebooks, encounters and smiles, also brought the beginning of a new chapter, in spaces created to support growth, nurture talents and make every subsequent arrival as school or kindergarten a reason for joy.
